Circle Ball Xtreme™
A 3v3 circular volleyball-style game built for any surface, any crew. Team strategy meets individual skill in every rally.
CBX™ reimagines team sports with a circular court that puts every player in the action — every point, every rally.
Three concentric zones define play — the X Zone at the center, six player tracks in the middle ring, and the outer boundary for long saves.
Invented by Akash Malhotra · Circle Ball Xtreme™
Players rotate clockwise after every lost serve. Your position constantly changes, so every player covers every zone over the course of a game.
CBX™ runs on self-officiation. Players call their own faults — especially stepping into the X Zone. Sportsmanship is built into the DNA of the game.
The circular layout is unlike any other sport. Each zone has its own rules that change how you think and move.
Off-limits area. Ball landing here unsaved = opponent gets 2 points. Never step inside.
Six equal sections alternating between teams. Each player defends their own Track.
Max play boundary. Balls heading out can still be saved by teammates before landing.
CBX™ is easy to pick up but rewards smart positioning and team communication.
Serve from the middle ring using an underarm bump or set — no smashes. The serve must go to a teammate. Serve rotates after each point lost.
When the ball heads toward your Track, only your team can touch it. If it lands unplayed, the opponent scores. Teammates can also cross over to help.
Each team is allowed a maximum of 3 consecutive hits per possession. If the ball isn't heading toward an opponent's Track, teammates must step in and save it — but your team cannot exceed 3 touches before it must land or be redirected.
The inner circle is off-limits. Ball landing there unsaved = opponent gets 2 points. Same if you step inside. Save it — but never step in.
After every lost serve, all players rotate clockwise to the next Track. Your position never stays the same — adaptability is key.
All contact must be underarm — bumps, sets, or soft tosses. No smashes, no holds, no overhead strikes. Hits directed downward are also not allowed. Clean, upward or lateral contact only. Max 3 team touches per possession.
Each set is played to 11, win by 2. Play best of 3, 5, or 7 sets. The team that wins a point also takes the next serve.

These are the current official rules, but CBX™ grows through community play. Try it with your crew, share feedback, and help shape what this game becomes.
